Hero image & LCP element

High impactLCP0/7

Preload the hero with matching imagesrcset/imagesizesOne preload only, exactly matching the <img> srcset so the browser never downloads twice.
Audit: preloaded photo matches the real homepage at every screen sizeChecked Oct 13, 2026 on the live site at 375, 390, 768, 1024, 1280, 1440 and 1920px: the photo shown was always the preloaded one, downloaded once. Phones on sharp screens get the 1024w or 1440w file; re-check after changing hero images or sizes.
Show the first page of a visit without a fade-inChrome skips elements that start invisible when picking the LCP element. Shipped Oct 6, 2026: the first page appears instantly; later page changes still fade.
Make the hero photo fill the top of the screen on phonesShipped Oct 6, 2026: the photo used to cover only a thin strip on phones, so text was timed instead. Now it is the largest element on phones and desktop.
Set fetchpriority="high" and loading="eager" on the heroNever lazy-load the LCP image.
Serve AVIF → WebP → JPEG with responsive widths640/1024/1440w at quality 45–60; phones get the small file.
Make the LCP text render without waiting on fontsfont-display: swap and a size-matched fallback font when the headline is the LCP element.
